Frequently Asked Questions

1.  Are Infinity Wires lead-free?

Infinity WiresTM are made in the USA from lead-free, spring-tempered 302 stainless steel.  While the European Union has determined that 302 stainless steel is safe for most people with pre-existing nickel sensitivities and does not appear to leech significant amounts of nickel when in prolonged contact with skin, 302 stainless steel is not approved specifically by the FDA for surgical implants.

2.  Are Infinity Wires really strong enough to hold a 5 pound weight with out breaking or unbending?

While Infinity Wires can support a 5 pound weight suspended from its bottom loop with out the top pieces unbending and not coming free from a tunnel, your piercing will not support this amount of weight.

**DO NOT TRY TO HANG A 5LB WEIGHT FROM YOUR PIERCING**

3.  Can I wear Infinity Wires without a tunnel or eyelet in my stretched piercing?

Infinity Wires are intended to be used with tunnels and eyelets in your stretched piercing.  We recommend not using them directly on the skin as they can pinch your skin, potentially causing injury.  In addition, by suspending the Infinity Wire from a tunnel, the weight and pull of your earring is spread out across the surface of the tunnel rather than the narrow width of a wire.

4. Where can I buy Infinity Wires?

Jewelers can purchase bulk Infinity Wires jewelry findings here.  I will be putting a link up on this website for jewelry made with Infinity Wires in the near future (jewelers - please let me know if you want to be included on this link!).
